HAPL Frequently Asked Questions
- How can I get a library card?
- Check the Policy on Library Use and Borrowing Privileges for full details, but the quick answer is that you must provide proof of both identity and residence. A valid Nebraska drivers license with your current address is the easiest way to fulfill both of these requirements.
- I am using the Online Catalog from my home computer, and have found an item that I would like to check out. How can I place a hold request so that I can pick it up?
- If you log in to your account using your library barcode number you may place a hold or renew an item one time. You will also need your password, which defaults to your last name (all lower case) unless you have changed it yourself. Be sure to remember your password as we cannot "see" it...we can only reset it to your last name again.
- How many DVDs can I check out?
- Individuals over 14 (or younger with parents written approval) may check out up to six DVDs for up to three days. Please be sure to get them back on time, as the overdue fine is $4.50 per day per item.
- How much are fines?
- With the exception of DVDs, video games and special equipment, fines on all other items accrue at $.10 per day per item up to a maximum of $2.00 per item. Charges for lost items are based on replacement cost. Maximum fines for DVDs and video games are $4.50.
